OFFF Barcelona 2015 Main Titles

TV commercials, card deck and short film combine in unique project for OFFF 2015! Watch them here and read all about it below!

After Hector Ayuso (OFFF festival Director) had put Onesize in touch with graphic artist James White (aka Signalnoise) to collaborate on OFFF's 15th Anniversary Main Titles, the question arose: "How will their styles ever mix?"

Here's Onesize take:

*The answer was to leave our comfort zones and use our skills in a new arena, where we were not constrained by our typical working methods. We chose to give the audience a souvenir by printing the titles in the form of a card deck. Fifty three designs were made by James White and his team (back in Canada), while in Amsterdam, we were developing a story about the “card game”.

We developed two 80s TV Commercials, selling the card deck and promising a better life for dysfunctional families. These were used to tease the audience, generate wrong expectations and serve as a set-up for a short film that would tie everything together.

This film tells a story about Jason, a boy who bought this deck of cards 30 years ago as a last resort to save his family. It all turned out quite different for him and he blames Sean - the kid in the commercials - whose "no losers, only winners” catchphrase has eaten through Jason’s life like a cancer. Now, in present time, Jason’s journey of revenge is coming to a close.

Before the film was shown to the audience at the festival, over 2000 printed versions of the card game where handed out to every single person in the room as "take-away titles".*

So basically, OFFF 15th Anniversary Main Titles project comprises three parts:

1-The teaser commercials from the 80s (the promise) 2-The printed card deck (the product) 3-The main film (the result)
